During the experiment, all participants will undergo the same procedures: undergoing a fear extinction procedure in which threatening cues--cues that predict electric shock--will be paired with either an image of a social support figure (provided by participants) or an image of a smiling stranger. These pairings will be presented repeatedly in the absence of shock in order for fear extinction to occur. Researchers at UCLA want to see if this \"Social Support\" intervention, where you look at a picture of a supportive person during a fear-reducing procedure, works for both healthy adults and those diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. They will measure your fear response right after the procedure and again 24 hours later. They plan to enroll 100 participants, aged 18-55, who are fluent in English. You can join if you are a healthy adult without a history of mental illness, or if you have a diagnosis of social anxiety disorder.","Your fear response will be measured directly after the fear extinction procedure and again 24 hours later.",115,"Not specified in the trial record.","Not stated in the trial record.",[33]]
