There have been several recent pilot studies in this area demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of this approach. With the suddenness of onset and high healthcare utilization of an acute leukemia diagnosis, financial navigation early in the disease course may represent an opportunity to reduce the financial distress burden of this disease and improve outcomes.\n\nThe investigators have chosen to conduct this as a randomized, controlled trial (RCT) evaluating the effect of financial navigation (FN) on the patient reported objective measurement of financial toxicity (FT) using the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity (COST) measure. AML is a type of cancer that starts in the bone marrow. The study wants to see if systematic financial navigation helps reduce the financial burden (financial toxicity) that often comes with cancer treatment. You would be between 18 and 64 years old and newly diagnosed with AML. Half of the participants will receive systematic financial navigation, where staff proactively screen for financial needs. The other half will have access to standard financial resources if they ask for them. The main goal is to measure your self-reported financial burden using a special questionnaire after six months. The study plans to enroll 120 people, but its current status is unclear.","Your financial toxicity will be measured for six months after you are randomized into a group.",128,"The study will assess your self-reported financial toxicity at 6 months after you join.","Not stated in the trial record.",[],"v2"]
