Imaging Techniques for Identifying Sudden Cardiac Death Risk

This study is looking at whether new imaging tests, like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), can help doctors predict who is at high risk for sudden cardiac death. Sudden cardiac death is when the heart suddenly stops beating, and it's hard to know who might experience it. You might be able to join if you are 18 or older, have a weak heart muscle (left ventricular ejection fraction of 35% or less), and are planning to have an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) put in for the first time. The study will measure if these imaging techniques can predict sudden cardiac death, death from heart problems, or if your ICD delivers a shock, all measured every six months. The current recruitment status is unclear.

Study design
This is an observational study with a planned enrollment of 400 participants. It is not specified if it is randomized or blinded.
What's involved
Not specified in the trial record.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Participants will be followed for sudden cardiac death, cardiovascular death, and appropriate ICD discharge, measured at 6-month intervals.
