Genetic Variants and Susceptibility to Diseases of Prematurity in Very Low Birth-Weight Infants

This study is looking at whether small differences in your baby's genes (gene variations) might make them more likely to develop certain health problems common in premature infants. These problems include chronic lung disease (CLD), necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), sepsis, patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH). Researchers will compare gene variations in premature infants who develop these conditions to those who don't. The goal is to understand if these genetic differences increase the risk. This study is for infants born weighing less than 1500 grams. It is not currently recruiting new participants, as its status is unclear.

Inclusion

Infants born weighing less than 1500 grams

Exclusion

Infants born with congenital heart disease (other than patent ductus arteriosus)
major congenital anomalies of the GI tract, respiratory tract, or kidneys
