This research is looking into two proteins in your blood that might be released when your heart muscle is damaged, such as during a heart attack (acute myocardial infarction). The study wants to see if these proteins, called Caspase-3 and dystrophin, increase in your blood after a heart attack. Researchers also want to find out if levels of these proteins are higher in people who develop heart failure compared to those who don't. Currently, it's not known if increased levels of these proteins are linked to heart disease or heart attacks. You may be able to join if you are 18 or older and have recently had a heart attack, with or without heart failure. Success for this study would mean finding that these proteins are indeed elevated after a heart attack and are higher in those who develop heart failure.
