Understanding Impaired Diabetic Wound Healing
This observational study aims to understand why wounds heal poorly in people with diabetes. Researchers will collect blood and a VAC sponge (a material normally thrown away after wound care) from people with chronic (long-lasting) wounds. They will compare cells and fluids from diabetic and non-diabetic wounds, as well as normal blood cells, to find out what causes problems with healing. You may be able to join if you are between 21 and 80 years old and have a chronic wound that has been present for over four weeks, whether you have diabetes or not.
