Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

18-65 year of age
Undergoing elective abdominal or bariatric surgery
May have normal or elevated ALT/AST levels

Exclusion

Presence of viral hepatitis
Significant alcohol use
Intercurrent infections
Use of any thiazolidinediones
