Blood Collection for HIV Research

This study is collecting blood samples from people with HIV and people who do not have HIV (HIV-negative controls) to help scientists learn more about the virus. The goal is to better understand how HIV works, how the body's immune system responds, how the disease spreads, and how to treat it. Researchers will use these samples to study things like virus characteristics, drug resistance, drug levels in the blood, immune function, and genetic factors related to HIV. You may be able to join if you are 18 or older, have good veins for blood draws, and can give informed consent. If you have HIV, you can join if you haven't started antiretroviral therapy (ART) or if you've been stable on or off ART for at least six months. People with very low hemoglobin or hematocrit levels, or those actively being treated for cancer, cannot participate. The main thing being measured is the level of HIV in your blood (Plasma HIV RNA level). The study is currently collecting samples.
