Strawberry Candy Twists for Gestational Diabetes Screening

This study is looking at whether eating 10 strawberry-flavored Twizzlers can be a good alternative to the standard Glucola drink for screening for gestational diabetes (diabetes that develops during pregnancy). Researchers want to see if Twizzlers work just as well as Glucola in identifying women who might have gestational diabetes. You could join if you are pregnant, between 24 and 28 weeks along, and are between 18 and 64 years old. The study aims to enroll 617 participants. Success for this study would mean that Twizzlers are found to be a reliable and cost-effective way to screen for gestational diabetes. The current status of the study is unclear.

Study design
This is an interventional study planning to enroll 617 pregnant women. Participants will be screened with either the standard Glucola drink or 10 strawberry-flavored Twizzlers.
What's involved
You would consume either the Glucola drink or Twizzlers, and then have your blood drawn one hour later. This will be done during a regular clinic visit and won't require extra appointments.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Your blood sugar levels will be measured in response to the oral glucose challenge at 24 to 28 weeks gestation.
