REMAP-CAP Study for Severe Pneumonia, Influenza, and COVID-19

This study, called REMAP-CAP, is looking for adults who are in the intensive care unit (ICU) with severe community-acquired pneumonia (a lung infection caught outside of a hospital). It aims to find the best treatments for this condition, including for influenza and COVID-19. Researchers are testing several commonly used antibiotics like Ceftriaxone, Moxifloxacin or Levofloxacin, Piperacillin-tazobactam, Ceftaroline (this part of the study is now closed), and Amoxicillin-clavulanate. The study will measure how many people survive after 90 days and how many days people are alive and don't need organ support in the ICU after 21 days. The study is designed to help doctors understand which treatments work best for patients like you.

Study design
This is a randomized, embedded, multifactorial adaptive platform trial, meaning it can test multiple treatments at once and adjust based on early results. It plans to enroll up to 20,000 participants.
What's involved
