Ischemic Conditioning During Air Transport for Acute Stroke

This study, called "Ischemic Conditioning During Air tRansport Save penUmbral Tissue," is looking at a treatment called remote limb ischemic conditioning (RLIC) for people who have had a suspected acute ischemic stroke. RLIC uses a special blood pressure device (Doctormate) to inflate cuffs on your limbs for short periods. The goal is to see if it's possible for medical crews to deliver this treatment safely during helicopter transport to a hospital that can perform a procedure called thrombectomy. You might be able to join if you are between 18 and 80 years old, have symptoms of a large vessel blockage in your brain, and are being transported by air for treatment. The study will measure how many cycles of RLIC are completed during your flight.

    Feasibility will be assessed based on the number of cycles performed during transportation by air as follows: For flight time of duration of ≥ 60 minutes, ≥ 60% of subjects should receive 4 cycles of RLIC. For flight time of duration of 30-60 minutes, ≥ 60% of subjects should receive at least 3 cycles of RLIC. For flight duration of \< 30 minutes, ≥60% of subjects should receive at least 2 cycle of RLIC.
