Socially Assistive Robots for Magnification Device Use in Low Vision
This study is exploring if a Socially Assistive Robot can help people with low vision use their reading magnification devices more effectively. The robot will talk with you to encourage and motivate you to use your devices at home. The goal is to help you become more skilled with your magnifier, which could reduce difficulties with daily activities like reading. We are looking for 20 adults, aged 18 or older, who have vision loss from any eye disease and have received a magnification device (like a hand-held magnifier or electronic video magnifier) from the UCLA Vision Rehabilitation Center. We will measure how your daily activities change between one month after joining and two to three months after you start using the robot. The current status of this study is unclear.
