Observational Study on Type 2 Immunity and NAFLD in Obesity

This observational study aims to understand how inflammation in fat tissue (adipose tissue) is connected to fat buildup around the liver (NAFLD) and insulin resistance in people with obesity. Researchers will evaluate liver scarring (fibrosis) using elastography before gastric bypass surgery. You may be able to join if you are between 30 and 70 years old, have a BMI over 40 kg/m2, are having gastric bypass surgery, and have confirmed liver fibrosis. The study is looking for 60 participants. The current recruitment status is unclear.

Study design
This is an observational study planning to enroll 60 participants. It is not a treatment study, but rather looks at existing conditions.
What's involved
Participants will have their liver fibrosis and adipose tissue inflammation measured at the beginning of the study.
