Iron Treatment for Anemia After Bariatric Surgery

Researchers are comparing two ways to give iron: intravenous (IV) ferumoxytol (given directly into a vein) versus oral ferrous sulfate tablets (taken by mouth). Some participants will also receive a placebo (an inactive substance like saline for IV or Vitamin C for oral treatment). The study will enroll 104 adults aged 18 and older who had Roux-en-Y gastric bypass or vertical sleeve gastrectomy at least 3 months ago and have iron deficiency anemia. The main goals are to see how much your overall condition improves and how much your hemoglobin (a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen) levels change after 6 weeks of treatment.
