Gait Analysis for Total Knee Replacement
This study is looking at how different total knee replacements affect walking (gait) in people with knee osteoarthritis. Researchers are comparing the DJO Empowr PS Knee System, a newer design, with older systems like the Stryker Triathlon Total Knee System and the Biomet Vanguard Complete Knee System. They also compare these to people who haven't had knee replacement surgery. The main goal is to see how much your knee bends while walking after surgery. You could be eligible if you are at least 50 years old and are having or have had one of these knee replacements, or if you are a healthy control. The study status is unclear, and it plans to include 102 participants.
- Study design
- This is an observational study, meaning researchers will watch and collect information without giving new treatments. It plans to include 102 participants.
- What's involved
- If you are having an Empowr PS Total Knee Replacement, you would participate in motion data collection before surgery, and then at 6 months and 12 months after surgery. You would also have physical therapy and be monitored for your progress.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- Participants are followed for at least 12 months after surgery, with some data collected up to 2 years post-op.
