PET Imaging for Brain Inflammation in Neurodegenerative Diseases

This study is looking into whether inflammation in the brain, specifically involving proteins called cyclooxygenase 1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), is higher in people with neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, or ALS, compared to healthy individuals. Researchers will use special imaging scans called PET scans after injecting small amounts of different substances: 11C-MC1, 11C-PS13, or 18f-florbetaben. The main goal is to measure the concentration of these substances to see if COX-1 and COX-2 levels are elevated. You may be able to join if you are 18 or older and have a neurodegenerative condition or are a healthy volunteer. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and plans to enroll 184 participants.

Study design
This is an interventional study, meaning participants will receive specific interventions. It aims to enroll 184 participants.
What's involved
You would receive intravenous (IV) injections of study drugs followed by PET scans. The primary endpoint measurements are taken 1-2 days after the scans.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Measurements are taken 1-2 days after the scans.
