Understanding Language Patterns in Children with DLD
This study aims to understand how children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), also known as Specific Language Impairment, learn language patterns. Researchers will assess how children respond to different sound patterns (phonological rules) and how they learn rules when given semantic (meaning-based) cues. The goal is to see if difficulties in learning these patterns are linked to language challenges in DLD. This research could lead to better ways to identify and help children with DLD earlier. Children aged 4 to 8 years old who score above 75 on a nonverbal intelligence test may be eligible to participate. The study will measure how accurately and consistently children respond to these language patterns.
