Alkaline Glycine for Airway pH Measurement in Airway Disease

This study is looking for people aged 18-60, with or without airway disease, to help researchers find a new, less invasive way to measure airway pH. Airway pH is how acidic or alkaline your airways are, and imbalances can cause breathing problems. Currently, measuring airway pH involves an invasive procedure. This study will have you inhale alkaline glycine, a medication, through a nebulizer. Researchers will then measure your exhaled nitric oxide levels and exhaled breath condensate pH to see if these non-invasive methods can accurately show your airway pH. The study aims to find better ways to understand and manage airway conditions. The current status of this study is unclear.

Inclusion

• Study sample will consist of individuals aged 18-60 with a diagnosis of acute or chronic respiratory disorders or normal subjects with no pulmonary disease.

Exclusion

• Subjects that are mechanically ventilated.
Subjects that are unable or unwilling to cooperate with specimen collection.
Subjects with diagnosis of any medical condition that in the investigator's opinion would make them unsuitable for study participation.
Subjects who experienced a pulmonary exacerbation within the 4 weeks prior to visit.
Subjects requiring continuous oxygen therapy.
