Visual Feedback Training for Aphasia
This study is testing a new approach called Visual Feedback Training to help people with aphasia (a communication disorder affecting speech after a stroke) improve their speech. Participants will work with a computer to control a visual cursor using their speech, even when their hearing feedback is changed. The goal is to see if this training can improve speech production and motor control. We are looking for 50 individuals aged 21-75 who have aphasia due to a stroke that happened more than 6 months ago, are right-handed, and native English speakers. We are also recruiting 50 healthy individuals for comparison. The study aims to measure improvements in speech production and motor control ability after two weeks. The current recruitment status is unclear.
- Study design
- This is an interventional study planning to enroll 100 participants. It will include 50 individuals with aphasia and 50 healthy control subjects.
- What's involved
- Participants will receive Visual Feedback Training. The primary endpoint, speech production and motor control ability, will be measured at 2 weeks.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up

Participants accuracy in using their speech for controlling the visual cursor will be assessed via measuring their deviation from hitting a pre-defined target on the screen.
