Melatonin and Cardiovascular Responses Study

This study is looking at how a single dose of melatonin affects your heart and blood vessels when your body is under a little stress, like during a cold pressor test (a test that uses cold to activate your nervous system) or exercise. Researchers want to see if 5mg of melatonin spray, given under your tongue, changes how your body responds compared to a placebo (an inactive spray that looks and tastes similar). They will measure your muscle tissue oxygenation and mean arterial pressure (average blood pressure) during rest and exercise. You may be able to join if you are a healthy adult between 18 and 35 years old, with specific blood pressure and health criteria. The study is currently recruiting 100 participants.

Study design
This is an interventional study where 100 healthy participants will receive either melatonin or a placebo in a random, single-blind order.
What's involved
You will have 3 visits to the research lab. The first visit is for screening and consent, and the other two visits involve receiving either melatonin or placebo and undergoing tests.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Measurements are taken at 7 minutes of rest and 7 minutes of exercise during each testing visit.
