Circuitry-Guided Smoking Cessation in Schizophrenia (UH3)

This study is looking at new ways to help people with schizophrenia spectrum disorders stop smoking. It tests two types of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) devices: the active F8-coil and the active H-coil. rTMS uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain. Researchers believe that smoking addiction in people with schizophrenia might be linked to certain brain circuits that are also affected by schizophrenia. The study will measure how much participants smoke and look at changes in their brain's functional connectivity (how different brain areas communicate) after one month. You may be able to join if you are 22-65 years old, smoke at least 5 cigarettes a day, and have a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and plans to enroll 50 participants.
