Researchers are looking at how these conditions might share similar ways of experiencing pain, even though FM is considered a 'nociplastic' pain syndrome (pain from changes in the nervous system) and RA is 'nociceptive' (pain from tissue damage). You can join if you are between 18 and 70 years old and have been diagnosed with FM or RA, or if you are a healthy volunteer without significant pain, fatigue, depression, or anxiety. The study will measure your pressure pain thresholds (how much pressure causes pain) at one hour to see how pain is experienced.
