Real-time fMRI Neurofeedback for Schizophrenia with Auditory Hallucinations
This study is testing a treatment called stg-rt-fMRI-Neurofeedback, which uses real-time feedback from your brain activity to help reduce auditory hallucinations (hearing things that aren't there) in people with schizophrenia. Researchers want to see if this feedback can change brain activity in a specific area (the superior temporal gyrus) and reduce these hallucinations. You might be able to join if you are 18 to 55 years old, have schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, and your auditory hallucinations haven't improved with medication. The study will compare stg-rt-fMRI-Neurofeedback to sham-rt-fMRI-Neurofeedback, which provides feedback from a different brain area. The main goal is to see how much brain activity changes in the superior temporal gyrus after the intervention, measured up to four weeks later.
