MINDGAPS Study for Vestibular Hypofunction

This study, called MINDGAPS, is testing a new system to help people with vestibular hypofunction (problems with the inner ear that affect balance and cause dizziness). The system uses wearable sensors to measure your gaze (eye movements) and balance, and to help you stick to your vestibular exercises at home for 6 weeks. Researchers want to see if this system can improve your balance and reduce dizziness. You might be able to join if you are 40 or older, have dizziness or imbalance, can stand on your own, and have been diagnosed with peripheral vestibular hypofunction. Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

Reports issues with dizziness or imbalance
Ability to stand independently
Presence of peripheral vestibular hypofunction as indicated by examination with video nystagmography, video head impulse testing, or dynamic visual acuity testing.

Exclusion

vertebral or carotid artery dissection
blindness
peripheral or central oculomotor palsy
centrally mediated vestibular dysfunction
