Impacts of Cash Transfers on Child Neurodevelopment (Auxilio Brasil)

This study is looking at how extra cash payments to mothers might help with children's brain development and mental health. It's called the Auxilio Brasil program. We want to see if giving mothers an additional $40 per month, compared to $2 per month, can help children aged 7-10 years old. We'll be looking at how this affects their experiences, specifically Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), over 16 months. To join, mothers must be 23-45 years old, already receiving Auxilio Brasil, and have at least two children aged 7-10. Children must be 7-10 years old and have an intellectual disability. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status.

Study design
This is an interventional study where 450 participants will be randomly assigned to receive different amounts of supplemental cash transfers.
What's involved
Not specified in the trial record.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Participants will be followed for changes in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) at 8 months and 16 months.

  • Access to health careBaseline

The assessment will be based on maternal report about each child's health care utilization history including primary care, urgent care, and hospital care. Primary care visits will be classified by purpose: vaccination, routine check-up, or sick visits. Similar procedures to the ones in place in our ongoing study will be used to obtain child medical records in the primary care unit.
