Personalized Voice Restoration Device for Laryngectomy Patients

This study is testing a new, personalized way to help people who have lost their voice (aphonia) or have difficulty speaking (dysphonia) due to a laryngectomy. It uses a device called Surface Electromyography (SEMG) to measure muscle activity in your face and neck. This information is then used with machine learning to recognize "silent speech" and help restore your voice. Researchers want to see if this method works and how people feel about using it. You could join if you are an adult (18-110 years old) with severe dysphonia or aphonia, or if you are a healthy volunteer without voice problems. The study will measure how many words and numbers are correctly identified using the device, and your experience with voice restoration devices. The current status of this study is unclear.
