Behavioral Activation + Occupational Therapy for Multiple Chronic Conditions
This study is testing an intervention called Behavioral Activation + Occupational Therapy (BA-OT) to help older adults better manage multiple long-term health conditions (like arthritis or diabetes) and physical disabilities. Many older adults struggle with daily health tasks due to these conditions, which can worsen their health. BA-OT teaches a 4-step process (Goal-Plan-Do-Check) to help you plan and carry out daily health activities. This is compared to "Enhanced Usual Care," which includes a Fitbit, training, and a handout. The study aims to see if BA-OT improves your ability to perform daily activities and manage your health over 22 weeks. We are looking for 40 participants aged 60 and older who have at least two chronic conditions and one functional limitation, and live near the University of Oklahoma (OU) Schusterman Center.
