MRI Screening for High-Risk Prostate Cancer

This study is looking at whether Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can find high-grade prostate cancer earlier and more often in men who are at a higher risk of developing it. You might be able to join if you are a man aged 18 or older, have no history of prostate cancer, and haven't had certain prostate surgeries. The study will determine if using Prostate MRI helps detect these cancers sooner. We don't know the current recruitment status. The main goal is to see the proportion of patients who are found to have high-grade prostate cancer.

Study design
This is an interventional study planning to enroll 250 participants. Your group placement for the Prostate MRI will be based on your genetic risk score (GRS), family history, and germline testing.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

Male age 18 and older
No known history of prostate cancer
No previous prostate resection or ablation (e.g. TURP, photovaporization)

Exclusion

Unable to tolerate MRI due to metal fragments or claustrophobia
Lack of a rectum
Hip arthroplasty

  • Proportion of patients with high grade prostate cancer detection.Every 3 years up to 15 years

    MRI results will be collected every 3 years for 15 years until high grade prostate cancer is detected as defined as Gleason greater than or equal to 7 (Grade Group 2).
