Dietary Protein for Muscle Recovery in Heart Failure
This study is looking at whether increasing protein in your diet can help improve muscle mass in people with heart failure. If you have heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), you might experience muscle loss. This trial will compare changes in muscle mass in the arms and legs for people who receive different amounts of protein supplementation. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: no protein supplement, a low-dose protein supplement (Ensure Original), or a high-dose protein supplement (Ensure Max Protein). The main goal is to see how much muscle mass (appendicular lean mass) changes after 6 months. You may be able to join if you are between 18 and 100 years old and have heart failure with specific criteria, such as a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 40% or less, or certain symptoms.
