Migraine in Adolescents Study
This study is looking at migraine in adolescents aged 10-13. We want to understand what factors might predict when migraines start and how they develop. Participants will undergo an MRI scan (a type of imaging that uses magnets and radio waves to look at the brain), sensory tests using thermal stimuli (heat and cold) and pressure stimuli, and provide pain ratings. You will also meet with a specialist to determine if you have migraine. The study aims to see how many participants are diagnosed with migraine over two years. We are enrolling healthy adolescents with or without a family history of migraine, and adolescents who already have migraine.

Multivariable regression analyses with baseline psychophysical, and neural factors will be used to identify predictors for migraine diagnosis and headache frequency. For Aim 1a, the primary outcome is migraine diagnosis (binary variable based on the physician's diagnosis), the independent variables are baseline PPT, CPM response, and FC of the right amygdala, and the controlling factors are race and age.

Since all participants will be at early pubertal maturation and pre-menarche at baseline, pubertal status will not be controlled for in this aim.
