This study aims to help Black individuals and families in Houston understand their risk for hereditary cancers like breast and colorectal cancer. We are using a simple genetic risk screening tool and offering genetic testing and counseling through community organizations. The goal is to identify individuals eligible for genetic testing, provide them with testing and counseling, and connect those with certain genetic changes to resources for reducing their cancer risk and for their family members to also get tested. We hope to identify 300 Black families and provide genetic testing to 150 Black individuals and families.
