Genetics of Appendix Cancer Study

This study, called the Genetics of Appendix Cancer (GAP) Study, is looking into the genetic changes that might lead to appendix cancer. Researchers will use genetic profiling (whole exome sequencing) to examine your DNA and collect archived tumor tissues that were previously removed. The goal is to understand the prevalence and types of genetic changes found in people with appendix cancer and their biological parents. You can join if you are 18 or older, have been diagnosed with appendix cancer in the United States, and are able to give consent and participate. The study status is currently unclear, but it plans to enroll 700 participants.

Known diagnosis of appendix cancer in the United States
Mentally and physically able to consent and participate in the study
Known diagnosis of appendix cancer
Diagnosed by and/or consulting with a physician/clinical provider participating in the GAP Study
Mentally and physically able to consent and participate in the study
Biological parents (mother and/or father) of individuals actively participating in the GAP Study
Residing in the United States
Mentally and physically able to consent and participate in the study

Exclusion

Women pregnant at the time of consent
Prisoners
Unable to provide informed consent
Unable to read, write, or complete questionnaires in English
