Feasibility of Transcranial Focused Ultrasound for Brain Tumor Imaging

This study is looking into whether transcranial focused ultrasound (tFUS) can be used to image brain tumors. tFUS is a non-invasive (does not involve cutting the body) way to get high-resolution images of the brain. You might be able to join if you are at least 18 years old, scheduled for brain surgery, and will be under general anesthesia. The main goal is to see if tFUS imaging is possible (feasible) at the start of the study. This study plans to enroll 15 participants and is currently unclear on its recruitment status.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

Able to undergo informed consent
Scheduled and present for brain surgery
General Anesthesia planned
Neuronavigation used for surgery
Thin cut post-contrast imaging available for coregistration
At least 18 years of age

Exclusion

Awake craniotomy planned
Unhealed wounds or infection of scalp
Diseases and conditions that would increase the morbidity and mortality of craniotomy and tumor resection (e.g. cardiopulmonary issues) in the opinion of the PI.
