Pilot Study for Gastrointestinal Peritoneal Carcinomatosis Models
This pilot study is looking for people with gastrointestinal (GI) tumors, with or without peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC), who are having a planned surgery. The study aims to collect blood, fluid from the abdomen (ascites/peritoneal wash fluid), and tumor samples during your surgery. These samples will be used to create individual patient-derived vascularized micro-tumors (VMTs), which are tiny tumor models with blood vessel structures. Researchers will also use a special imaging technique called Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) to study the blood vessel patterns in peritoneal lesions. The goal is to better understand and develop new ways to study this type of cancer. This study is currently recruiting about 20 participants.
