Behavioral Economics to Implement Nutrition Ranking in Food Pantries

This study is looking at how to help food agencies, like food pantries, make healthier food choices when they order from the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB). It tests a special online ordering platform called the "Behavioral economics-enhanced user interface." This platform uses strategies to encourage healthier food selections. The goal is to see if this new interface helps agencies use a "traffic light nutrition ranking system" more often and order more healthy foods. You could participate if you represent a food agency that orders food from the GBFB online platform and are between 18 and 90 years old. The study will measure how many healthy food orders agencies place over 12 months. The current status of the study is unclear.

Study design
This is a randomized controlled trial involving 364 food agencies. Agencies will be randomly assigned to use either the current online ordering platform or the new "SWAP-enhanced" platform.
