Food Resources & Kitchen Skills (FoRKS) for Food Insecurity and High Blood Pressure
This study is looking at how a program called Food Resources & Kitchen Skills (FoRKS) can help adults with food insecurity (not having reliable access to enough affordable, nutritious food) and high blood pressure (hypertension). FoRKS involves 5 weeks of high blood pressure classes, followed by 11 weeks of home-delivered Mediterranean-style meal kits and online cooking lessons. Researchers will compare this to "Enhanced Usual Care" (EUC), which is 5 weeks of high blood pressure classes. The main goal is to see if FoRKS can lower your systolic blood pressure (the top number in a blood pressure reading) after 16 weeks. They will also look at blood sugar (HbA1c), food security, and nutrition. You might be able to join if you are 35-75 years old, live in Marion County, and have a systolic blood pressure of 120 or higher.
