Understanding Lung Changes in Post-COVID Conditions
This study is looking at how COVID-19 can affect your lungs long-term, specifically if you have ongoing symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath (dyspnea), or difficulty exercising after having the virus. Researchers will use a special type of X-ray called a Computed Tomography (CT) scan of your chest to see how air moves in and out of your lungs and how blood flows through them. They want to understand if there are problems with ventilation (airflow) or perfusion (blood flow) in people with these long-term COVID symptoms. You might be able to join if you are 18 to 99 years old, had COVID-19 more than three months ago, and have new or worsening symptoms like chronic fatigue or shortness of breath, even if your standard lung tests are normal or only mildly abnormal. The study aims to see if these CT scans can help explain why some people have these ongoing issues.
- Study design
- This is an observational study involving about 40 participants. It's designed to describe patterns of lung ventilation and blood distribution.
- What's involved
- You would complete questionnaires, undergo pulmonary function tests, perform a 6-minute walk test, and have a low-dose CT scan of your chest.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- Measures of regional lung ventilation and blood volume distribution will be taken at 1 day.
