Digital Therapeutics for Apathy in Late-Life Depression

This study is looking at whether digital cognitive training can help reduce apathy (a lack of interest or enthusiasm) in older adults with major depressive disorder. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one receiving Targeted Cognitive Training Intervention or another receiving General Cognitive Training Intervention. Both interventions involve 25-30 minutes of cognitive training per day, 5-7 days a week, for 4 weeks, delivered through the Posit Science Platform. Researchers will measure changes in brain connections and apathy symptoms to see if the training is effective. You may be eligible if you are 60 years or older, have major depressive disorder without psychosis, and experience significant apathy. The study aims to enroll 84 participants.

Study design
This is a randomized controlled trial aiming to enroll 84 participants. It compares two types of digital cognitive training interventions.
What's involved
You would complete 25-30 minutes of cognitive training daily, 5-7 days a week, for 4 weeks. Brain connections will be measured at the beginning and end of the 4-week treatment period.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Participants will be assessed at the end of the 4-week treatment period.
