Behavioral Strategies for Post-COVID Conditions and Obesity in Veterans
This study is looking at how behavioral strategies can help U.S. Veterans who have Post-COVID Conditions (PCC) and obesity. Researchers want to see if a 12-week program of either Weight Loss (diet classes and exercise) or Weight Stability (education and stretching/balance classes) can improve physical functioning and reduce inflammation. You might be able to join if you are a U.S. Veteran between the ages of 19 and 80, have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 19-25 or 30-50 kg/m2, and have had COVID-19 more than 90 days ago with at least one PCC symptom. The main goal is to see how these interventions affect your cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2max), which measures how well your heart and lungs work during exercise. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and plans to enroll 150 participants.
- Study design
- This is an interventional study, meaning participants will receive a specific treatment. It is not specified if it's randomized or blinded, and it aims to enroll 150 participants.
- What's involved
- Participants will take part in either a 12-week Weight Loss program (1x/week nutrition class, 2x/week exercise classes, 1x/week self-guided exercise) or a 12-week Weight Stability program (1x/week education class, 2x/week stretching/balance classes, 1x/week self-guided stretching/balance).
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- Cardiorespiratory Fitness (VO2max) is measured at baseline, but no further follow-up timeframes are specified.
