Mobile Health App for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

This study is testing a mobile health (mHealth) app called the Question Prompt List (QPL) for people with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). The app is designed to help you ask questions to your doctor during appointments about your GERD. Researchers want to see if using this app helps you feel more involved in your healthcare decisions. You may be able to join if you are 18 to 100 years old, have a GERD diagnosis, a specific GERD symptom score (GerdQ >=8), use proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) for GERD, and have internet access. The study will measure how involved you feel in your care at 3 and 6 months. This study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and plans to enroll 150 participants.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

clinical diagnosis of GERD
GerdQ score of \>=8
documented PPI use for GERD
internet access at home or computer/mobile device
ability to provide written or e-consent.

Exclusion

Established diagnosis that mimic GERD symptoms (e.g. achalasia by prior esophageal manometry)
non-English speaking patients
