Sepsis Recovery Performance Subtypes Pilot Study
This study is looking at how people recover physically after having severe sepsis (a life-threatening response to infection) that required intensive care. Many sepsis survivors experience ongoing weakness and may be readmitted to the hospital. Researchers want to understand the different ways people recover and identify patterns in their physical function. The main goal is to measure your physical ability using a test called the Short Performance Physical Battery three months after you leave the hospital. You may be able to join if you are between 18 and 80 years old and had sepsis requiring organ support in the ICU. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and aims to enroll 40 participants.
- Study design
- This is an observational study, meaning researchers will observe participants without providing any intervention. It aims to enroll 40 participants.
- What's involved
- The primary measurement is the Short Performance Physical Battery, taken at 3 months after hospital discharge. Other tests will be administered during your sepsis functional recovery.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- Participants will be followed for at least 3 months after hospital discharge to measure physical performance.
