Comparing Sepsis Prediction Algorithms

This study is comparing three different computer programs, called algorithms, that are designed to predict sepsis (a severe response to infection that can lead to organ damage and death). The algorithms being compared are the Epic Sepsis Model Version 1, the Epic Sepsis Model Version 2, and the Emory Sepsis Model. Researchers want to find out which algorithm is best at identifying sepsis early, as quick diagnosis can save lives. These algorithms will run in the background of your electronic health record if you are admitted through the emergency department, but they will not affect your medical care during this study. The study aims to enroll 1200 adult patients. The main goal is to see how well each algorithm identifies sepsis during your hospital stay.
