Nicotinamide Riboside for Overweight and Obesity

This study is looking at how a low-carbohydrate diet and a supplement called Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) affect how your body uses fat. Researchers want to see if NR can increase how much energy you burn while sleeping and how much fat your body uses, especially when you're on a ketogenic diet. You might be able to join if you are an adult male aged 18-65 or a pre-menopausal adult female aged 18-50, and are overweight or have obesity. Adults with a specific type of diabetes called maturity-onset diabetes of the young type 2 (MODY2) are also included. The main goals are to see if a ketogenic diet and NR change your sleeping energy use. The current status of this study is unclear.

Study design
This is a randomized, double-blind (you and the researchers won't know if you're getting NR or placebo), placebo-controlled (some participants will receive an inactive substance) crossover study involving approximately 100 participants.
What's involved
If you have diabetes, you will have one screening visit and a 9-day clinic stay. Healthy volunteers will have one screening visit and two clinic stays, each lasting 1 to 2 weeks.
