Valsartan for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
This study is looking at whether Valsartan, a medication already used for high blood pressure and heart failure, can help people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). PAH is a condition where blood pressure in the arteries of your lungs is too high, which can strain the right side of your heart. Currently, there are no medications that directly improve right heart function in PAH. This study will compare Valsartan to a placebo (an inactive substance) over 24 weeks to see if Valsartan is safe and effective in improving right heart function. You may be able to join if you are between 18 and 80 years old, have WHO Group 1 PAH, and meet certain heart function criteria. The main way we'll know if the treatment is successful is by measuring how far you can walk in six minutes.
