COMPRENDO Peer Navigation for Pediatric Cancer Clinical Trials

This study, called COMPRENDO, is testing a new way to help parents of children with cancer understand and join clinical trials. If your child has a new cancer diagnosis and is eligible for a clinical trial, you might be able to participate. The study will compare parents who receive support from a peer navigator (another parent who has experience with clinical trials) through the COMPRENDO program to those who receive usual care. The COMPRENDO program offers personalized support in person for up to four weeks, focusing on cultural understanding, language, and health information. The main goal is to see if COMPRENDO helps more parents enroll their children in therapeutic cancer clinical trials within 12 weeks. This study is currently unclear about its recruitment status.

Study design
This study is an interventional, randomized clinical trial aiming to enroll 450 participants. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the COMPRENDO intervention or usual care.
What's involved
Parents in the COMPRENDO group will have up to four in-person visits with a peer navigator. You will also participate in an informed consent discussion for a therapeutic clinical trial.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
The primary outcome of clinical trial enrollment will be measured at 12 weeks.
