Preschool Hearing Screening Study

This study is looking at the best way to check for hearing loss in preschool-aged children (2 to 6 years old). Children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing can have trouble with speaking and language, so finding hearing problems early is very important. Researchers want to compare two different hearing screening methods: a two-step approach using Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) and Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) tests, versus using only the OAE test. The OAE test checks how well the inner ear (cochlea) works, and the PTA test checks if a child can hear different sounds. All children in the study will have both tests. The goal is to see if the single OAE test is just as good at finding hearing loss as the two-step method. This study hopes to improve how we find hearing loss in young children so they can get help sooner. This study plans to include 13,764 children.

Study design
This interventional study will compare two hearing screening methods in a large group of children. Each child will undergo both screening methods, and their results will be compared.
