DMT for Alcohol Use Disorder

This study is looking at whether N, N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a psychedelic drug, along with therapy, can help people with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). Researchers want to see if DMT is safe and well-tolerated, and if it can reduce how much alcohol people drink. You might be able to join if you are 21 to 65 years old, have an AUD diagnosis, and are otherwise healthy. The study will compare different doses of DMT (0.3mg/kg/min or 0.2mg/kg/min with 0.01mg/kg/min) or a placebo (normal saline or Diphenhydramine) given as an infusion, all combined with psychotherapy. The study will look at safety and alcohol consumption for about 8 weeks.

Medically healthy
Ability to provide consent

    Systematic Assessment for Treatment Emergent Effects (SAFTEE) and MedDRA will be used weekly for 8 weeks to assess safety and tolerability of DMT in women and men with AUD.
