Researchers will compare participants who receive evolocumab to those who receive a placebo (an inactive substance) to see how changes in LDL-C levels impact the aorta's tissue and cells. The main goal is to measure a specific protein called Interleukin (IL)-6 in immune cells from AAA tissue after surgery. You may be able to join if you are over 18, need open surgery for an AAA, and have not used a PCSK9 inhibitor in the last 6 months. The study is currently recruiting 44 participants.
