Gerofit Exercise for Cognition in Older Veterans
This study is looking at how a special exercise program called Gerofit might help improve thinking and memory skills in older Veterans. Many Veterans over 65 are at higher risk for memory problems, and exercise could be a way to help. Researchers will compare the Gerofit exercise program, which includes individualized and group exercise three times a week, to monthly health education sessions. They want to see if Gerofit can improve memory and executive function (like planning and problem-solving) after three months. You might be able to join if you are a Veteran aged 65 or older, eligible for the VA Gerofit program, and your doctor says you can exercise. The study aims to enroll 150 participants.
- Study design
- This study is an interventional study with 150 planned participants. It compares a Gerofit exercise program to health education sessions.
- What's involved
- Participants will either take part in individualized and group exercise three times a week, or attend monthly health education discussion sessions. Measurements will be taken at the start and after three months.
