AvoCog: Avocado Intake and Brain Function in Older Adults

This study, called AvoCog, is looking at whether eating avocados every day can improve brain function in older adults. We are inviting 70 people between 65 and 85 years old who are in good general health and don't have dementia. Participants will either add avocados to their daily diet for 12 weeks or continue their usual eating habits. We will measure changes in brain activity using special scans (functional MRI), cognitive tests, and brain blood flow to see if avocados have a positive effect. We are currently unclear on the status of this study.

Study design
This interventional study plans to enroll 70 participants aged 65-85. Participants will be divided into groups, with one group consuming avocados daily.
What's involved
Participants will consume provided avocados daily for 12 weeks or maintain their normal diet. They will also undergo cognitive tests, MRI scans, blood tests, and complete questionnaires.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
